Shockwave Treatment Sydney
If you’re in pain from an injury, whether you’ve had it for weeks or even years, then shockwave treatment can help relieve your pain, repair the damage, and increase the speed of your recovery.
Shockwave is a clinically proven treatment that emits acoustic pressure waves into the specific areas of the body that it is applied. It is these waves that help:
Decrease your pain
Reduce inflammation
Facilitate the body’s healing and repair process in new injuries
Reboot the healing process in longstanding conditions or injuries
Encourage the formation of new blood vessels
Stimulate the regeneration of tendons
Reduce muscle spasticity
Disintegrate tendon calcifications
As podiatrists, we’re in full support of the many health benefits when using shockwave over other treatments, including:
No painful injections that break the skin
No medications that may have undesirable side effects
Non-invasive – does not penetrate the skin
Non-surgical option to reduce the risk of adverse effects
Relatively short treatment time per session – ~30 minutes per session
Stimulates the body’s own processes to improve healing and repair

How do I know if Shockwave can help me?
The first step to receiving shockwave treatment is to book in with our team for an assessment. During your assessment, we will:
Diagnose your pain or problem
Uncover why it happened
Form a treatment plan, which shockwave may be a part of
Help prevent the pain or problem from recurring in the future
Once we understand the problem, we will discuss if Shockwave may be a suitable treatment component to help your recovery.
Is shockwave safe?
Yes, shockwave is a safe and suitable treatment option for most patients, but cannot be used if you:
Are pregnant
Have blood clotting disorders or haemophilia
Have impaired sensory function, which can occur in diabetes
Have inflammation at the desired shockwave site
Have any malignancies
Have prostheses or implants
Have had a corticosteroid injection at the desired shockwave site in the past six weeks
If you don’t fall into any of the above categories, don’t worry. We have numerous other treatment options that may be better suited to you and will discuss these during your appointment.
